Bismuth subnitrate
Bismuth subnitrate supplies Bi2O3. A bismuth compound used in overglaze lusters. Soluble in acids but not in plain water [Parmelee]. May contain arsenic, lead, and silver as impurities. Linda Arbuckle's Ceramic Materials Guide: Can give mother‐of‐pearl luster in reduction. Low‐melting flux that replaces lead in more contemporary China paints.
